Overview

The course is specifically designed for Trainers who wish to deliver the RCOG Advanced Fellowship Programme in their own unit. It is very interactive, with lots of small group work and breakout sessions. It is essential for all clinical trainers and is led by an expert faculty. The course will equip you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to enhance your teaching sessions, to give more effective feedback, improve your assessment technique and give you experience of performing difficult appraisals.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Understand the principles of adult learning and how to apply them
  • Be able to explain the difference between appraisal and assessment
  • Directly observed teaching a skill, performing an induction appraisal and performing a difficult appraisal
  • Learn about the principles of “how to give feedback” and applied this knowledge in practice
  • Learn about the RCOG’s structure of training
  • Learn a new skill and gained insight into your own learning style
  • Become an RCOG Accreditation Trainer for the Advanced Fellowship Programme in your relevant area of speciality
