This exam is only open to applicants who are currently registered with the UK General Medical Council (GMC) or the Medical Council of Ireland (MCI).If you are not registered with either regulatory body at the time of application, please do not proceed any further as you are not eligible to attempt this exam. 

Please note, that the DRCOG exam has now transitioned from a paper-based to a computer-based format as part of the launch of our new IT Exams System. Further information about the project and computer based testing is available here.

Please note, the booking process will be in two stages. Candidates wanting to sit the exam on 10 April 2021 will need to register and complete payment for the exam via our website selecting either UK or ROI, based on where you reside, by no later than the closing date provided below.

Candidates registered for the exam will then be contacted by no later than 24 February 2021, to select an available slot in a Pearson VUE test centre – centres are based across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Closing date for applications

The closing date was Thursday 28 January 2021 at 4pm (UK time).

All applicants need an RCOG account. You must be logged into the website to make a booking. Bookings are made using the booking form at the bottom of this page, which appears when you are logged in.

Re-sit candidates

If you have previously attempted the Diploma exam, you will already have a website account, even if you have not logged into the RCOG website before.

Please do not attempt to register a new user account on the RCOG website if you have previously entered this exam but cannot remember your log-in details or College registration number.

Terms and conditions

By continuing with the booking process, you agree to all the terms of the Diploma exam regulations and to the transfer of all copyright subsisting in examination material produced by you to the College.

You confirm that you are not currently suspended or removed from medical practice by any authorising body or involved in any disciplinary proceedings related to medical practice in any country.

You also confirm that you have not sat the Diploma examination 5 times or more previously.

Your request must be submitted before the published closing date for the exam you are applying for. Requests submitted after the published closing date will normally not be considered.

You must make a new request with each examination application.

Name change

If your name has changed you need to provide an attested re-issued primary medical degree certificate or certificate of medical registration stating your new/married name, as well as a copy of your marriage certificate showing both your former and your new name. These documents must be sent to the exams department at and received by the closing date.


In accordance with EU and UK data protection laws, the College will process personal data, by any means (including electronically), for the purpose of providing benefits and services and to carry out its day to day business.

Under Article 6. 1(f) and Article 9. 2(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR), the lawful basis used by the RCOG (or College) to process your personal data with regard to the MRCOG examinations is “legitimate interests”. The College’s  exam system supplier, Pearson VUE, will only process your personal data for the purpose of providing the above mentioned benefits and services,  in order to carry out its day to day business in full compliance with GDPR 2018 and the RCOG Data Protection Policy.

If you are registered or anticipate being registered with the GMC, then your personal data, including data about your examination results, will be passed to the GMC for quality assurance and for research purposes and to facilitate the awarding of certificates of completion of training (CCTs).
