Call for applicants: Sexual reproductive health and rights research grant writing workshop

As part of the Making Abortion Safe programme, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) – in partnership with The Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF)  is running a grant-writing workshop for up to 12 junior  researchers from Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Sudan, Rwanda, & Zimbabwe.

The workshop is open to researchers with an interest in developing proposals for research in the field of abortion and/or post-abortion care.

The online, interactive programme will be held over eight three-hour sessions during the weeks commencing 21 February and 28 March 2022. In between, there will be a four-week break during which participants are expected to write a short research proposal.

Following the workshop series, the RCOG will award seed-funding for research of up to $30,000 for the two proposals of highest merit.  Researchers awarded funding will be invited to join the AREF mentoring programme, which offers six months of virtual mentorship from senior researchers from their “college of experts”.
