Liaison Groups events

On 28 November 2015, the RCOG celebrated Diwali with a fundraising event for the Global Health Care Program.

The event followed the first event of the year, the successful Gala Fundraising event at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London on the 13 June 2015.

The Nuffield Hall was lit up in bright colourful lights and the evening was fun filled with Bollywood music and dancing. The highlight of the night was the Jugalbandi (musical duo) of Indian Classical Vocal Music and Sitar. The first part of the show was presented by talented Obstetricians & Gynaecologists supported by professional performers.

The money raised

The evening raised £3700 which is going to be used for developing an obstetric training program to help in improving the maternal health in rural India. Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Matri Bhavan is a charitable hospital serving women and children from the middle and low socio-economic sections of the society since 1950. They have 5 satellite clinics in the villages in the outskirts of Kolkata.

The management is run by women based on the vision of Swami Vivekananda.
