The app

A new clinical decision tool for the NHS and for women

Together we have developed an online clinical decision support tool: an app, shared between healthcare professionals and women, to help ensure every woman receives the right care at the right time and ultimately, save more babies’ lives.

Together we are:

  • working hard to ensure we meet our aims to the highest possible standard
  • listening to our experts about how we can best support maternity care professionals to provide best practice and evidence-based care
  • listening to our dedicated Tommy’s Centre Women’s Involvement Group to ensure our activity and outputs are shaped by women’s voices every step of the way

Key factors in improving care

  • Risk assessment: Improving prediction by replacing simple checklists
  • Decision support: Improving decision support to reduce significant variation in practice

Why this app?

Our app has been developed by healthcare professionals and women together, for healthcare professionals and women.

It uses algorithms already validated for use in clinical care, and that we know provide a more accurate risk assessment to improve screening and triage during maternity care.

Our app can help reduce burden on the maternity system, provide continuity of care information at a glance and offers women the opportunity to engage with their care, and to ensure they are equipped to make informed decisions throughout personalised maternity care.

Our app brings digital innovation to maternity care, reduces burden on the maternity system and offers personalised care for women.

The Tommy's clinical decision tool has been developed by healthcare professionals and women together, for healthcare professionals and women, to:

  • More accurately assess a woman's risk of preterm birth and placental dysfunction
  • Provide personalised care for each woman
  • Enable continuity of care information throughout pregnancy
  • Provide clinical decision support to healthcare professionals
