BJOG impact factor registers another increase

News 27 June 2019

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology now has an impact factor of 5.193, and is ranked 6th out of 83 obstetrics and gynaecology journals in the Journal Citation Reports rankings. The new impact factor is the highest in BJOG’s history.

The impact factor is the average number of citations an article in a journal receives, and is used as a measure of the quality of papers published by a journal. It is calculated by the number of citations received in the Journal Citation Reports year by articles published in that journal during the two preceding years, divided by the total number of articles published in that journal during these two years. Clarivate Analytics publishes the reports annually and draw data from thousands of journals across a number of disciplines.

Dr Patrick Chien, BJOG Interim Editor-in-Chief, said:

"The latest BJOG impact factor supports the continuing progress to improve in our role disseminating the best research in women's health. Our editorial team will continue to provide high-quality content and to make the journal relevant to academics and clinicians around the world."
