Every year, the College holds an event to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), choosing a different theme each year.
2017 - Abortion care: Our responsibility
Our 2017 IWD event took place on Friday 3 March 2017 at the RCOG, on the theme ‘Abortion care: Our responsibility’. Our aim was to ensure abortion is seen as a core part of women’s health services, not ‘somebody else’s business’.
For more information, and to view the presentations, please visit the IWD 2017 page.
2016 - Joining up care in maternal mental health
Our 2016 event focused on the challenges experienced by healthcare practitioners who provide maternal mental health care, and the personal experiences of women who experienced mental health problems before, during and after pregnancy.
For more information, including videos of the presentations and other resources, please visit the IWD 2016 page.
2015 - Working together to stop gender-based domestic violence
Our 2015 event focused on ways in which healthcare professionals can support women experiencing domestic violence, and also featured powerful stories from women sharing their personal experiences.
For more information, including videos of some of the presentations and a practical checklist of hints and tops for healthcare professionals, please visit the IWD 2015 page.
