Part 2 MRCOG Exam Results

News 6 March 2018

Shortly after results letters for the recent Part 2 exam were issued to candidates on Friday 2 March 2018, the RCOG became aware of a significant error potentially affecting the results.

We have now investigated the issue and unfortunately discovered that 183 candidates who took the exam had received the incorrect result, out of a total of 1448 candidates who took the exam.

All affected candidates have been contacted by email today with their correct result. We have also written to the other candidates who took the exam to reassure them that the result they received on Friday is correct.

After looking in depth at this problem with our software engineers, we have identified that the problem was caused by a technical error in the data upload. The marking and validation of the four examination papers themselves were not affected.

Ian Wylie, CEO of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, said:

“I am deeply sorry for this error and for the distress it has caused to candidates who were given an incorrect result on Friday.

“The College takes this matter extremely seriously and we will be fully investigating what has happened to understand what went wrong and prevent it from happening again. We are in touch with candidates who were given an incorrect result to see how we can help mitigate the impact of this error.”
