We are delighted to announce that Professor Lesley Regan, RCOG Vice President for Strategic Development, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
The award is presented to individuals of outstanding achievement in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology internationally. Recipients of the Fellowship must also be involved in advancing women’s healthcare in the United States.
Professor Regan has been recognised for the research she has undertaken in her specialist areas of recurrent miscarriage and fertility sparing therapies for uterine fibroids, which has significantly improved the lives of women suffering from these conditions.
Professor Regan is also active in developing global health policy that encourages, educates and empowers women to promote their own health. Involved in various committees, including Chair of the FIGO Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Rights Committee, past Chair of the RCOG Advocacy and Global Health Advisory Committees and current member of the Royal Society of Medicine and Imperial Global Health committees, she has used the synergy of these appointments to make a sustainable contribution to global women’s health.
RCOG President, Dr David Richmond said:
“Professor Regan is a tremendous figure in our specialty both in the UK and worldwide and it is a great pleasure that she has been awarded the prestigious Honorary Fellowship from ACOG.
“Lesley’s pioneering work has resulted in improvements in maternal health globally and she is deeply committed to advocating for women’s health and human rights.”
