RCM CEO announces retirement

News 16 January 2017

Cathy Warwick, Chief Executive (CEO) of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM), has announced her retirement and will step down from the role at the end of August 2017.

Professor Lesley Regan, President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), said:

“It has been a great honour and privilege working with Cathy Warwick. Our relationship with the RCM has gone from strength to strength during Cathy’s tenure as CEO over the last eight years.

“She is a true and effective advocate for women’s health.  Not only has she continuously championed the excellent work that our midwifery colleagues undertake across the globe, but she also speaks out bravely about the taboo and sensitive subjects that affect so many women that our two Colleges care for.

“Cathy has always been committed to ensuring that  maternity services are safe and of high-quality. On behalf of the RCOG I wish to take this opportunity of thanking her publicly for her outstanding contributions.

“We wish her a very long, happy and healthy retirement and we look forward to getting to know and working closely with her successor.”
