RCOG policy briefing: House of Lords Select Committee call for evidence on NHS sustainability

The present demographic changes within the population of the UK and increase in long-term conditions place additional stress on the NHS. The House of Lords is conducting an inquiry into the long-term sustainability of the NHS over the next 15-20 years.

The Committee will be chaired by Lord Naren Patel. Areas which the Committee will focus on are: 

  • Resources including funding, productivity and demand management
  • Workforce supply, retention and skills
  • Service delivery models and integration
  • Prevention and public engagement
  • Innovation, data and informatics

The RCOG will make a formal submission to the inquiry.  If you would like to share your views with us, please send them to . If you would like us to consider your views in our submission, do let us know.   

We actively welcome your input into this important inquiry however, RCOG reserves the right to include/exclude these views in our final document.  Do make a note your answers to the specific questions in the consultation.

Oral evidence sessions will commence in the autumn/winter this year and the Committee aims to publish its recommendations by March 2017.
