RCOG statement on the birth of the royal baby

News 22 July 2013

Today it is announced that Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge have had a baby boy.

Dr Tony Falconer, President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, welcomed the news:

“The RCOG is delighted over this good news. We send our very best wishes to the happy couple and hope mother and baby are doing well.

“The birth of a child is an extremely precious and remarkable time for any couple and it is understandable for the world's attention to be on this royal birth. However, it is also important for the couple to have their privacy, away from the glare of the media as they begin their new family and get to know their new baby."
