Dr Sherif Abdel-Fattah

Sherif Abdel-Fattah is a Consultant in Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics at Southmead Hospital, Bristol.

He was the RCOG Council International Representative for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) since 2022. He has also been Scientific Editor of BJOG since 2010.

Sherif has been heavily involved with the RCOG in various roles since 2009. He was the Medical Training Initiative (MTI) Officer (2014-2017), is an MRCOG Part 3 examiner and has served on several examination sub-committees, including the DRCOG, Part 2 OSCE and Part 2 SBA. Currently, he is a member of the Examination and Assessment Committee, the Part 1 & 2 Standard Setting Committee, the Part 3 Task & Finish Group and the MTI Task & Finish Group.

Sherif served on the Scientific Committees of several RCOG World Congresses, including Birmingham 2016, London 2023 and Oman 2024. He has authored more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is a regular reviewer for several medical journals.

As the MENA region RCOG Council International Representative, Sherif promoted the MRCOG exam and the RCOG’s activities within the region which resulted in a 14% increase in the region’s RCOG membership between 2023 and 2025. Due to the increased demand, a new Part 3 exam centre was created in Saudi Arabia.
