Most visitors arrive at either Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA Terminal 1) or Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA Terminal 2) which are both located approximately 58km away from the city centre. 

The recommended mode of transport to get to KL Sentral (main train station) from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is the KLIA Ekspres high-speed train. The non-stop journey between KLIA and KL Sentral takes less than half an hour. The KLIA Ekspres operates at 15-minute intervals during peak hours and 20 minutes during off-peak. This service is available between 5am and 1am daily. 

Driving from KLIA Terminals to the city centre takes about an hour, depending on traffic. Ticket counters are available inside the airport arrival hall.  

E-hailing service is widely available in Malaysia at affordable prices. You may use the Grab app or taxi to move around. Download Grab App and setup an account before your travel.

Important information for your travel to Malaysia

Visa requirements are dependent on the country of origin and last port of disembarkation before entering Malaysia. For detailed information on visa applications, please visit the Malaysian government website here. Visitors can also contact the nearest Malaysian consulate to confirm visa requirements. 

Visitors must possess a valid passport or other internationally recognised travel documents endorsed for travelling to Malaysia, with a validity period of at least six (6) months beyond the time of stay allowed in Malaysia. 

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from all visitors or delegates (Malaysians and Foreigners) coming from or going to/through countries with risk of Yellow Fever transmission (As stated in International Health Regulations 2005 and Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988). Yellow fever vaccination is also required for travellers having transited more than 12 hours through the airport of a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. Travellers or delegates without a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate shall be quarantined upon arrival in Malaysia. (Source: Yellow Fever travel advisory: www.moh.gov.my) Yellow Fever certificate is required to be produced upon landing in Malaysia for countries as listed on the website of the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that all delegates take out their own travel and medical insurance prior to coming to the Congress. The policy should include loss of fees/ deposit through cancellation of your participation in the meeting, or through cancellation of the meeting itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. Neither the meeting secretariat nor the organising committee will take any responsibility for any participant failing to insure. Please speak to your travel agent or airline regarding this matter.

With a tropical rainforest climate Kuala Lumpur's temperature is constant throughout the year, within the range of 23°C early in the morning to 32°C during the day. The monsoon/rainy season is officially from October to March, however in the remaining months you can expect some heavy rainfall as well.  

Standard Malaysian Time is 8 hours ahead of GMT (GMT+8). 

Malaysian Ringgit (RM) – Travelers cheques and foreign currencies can be changed for Malaysian Ringgit at banks and hotels. Money changer kiosks are available at major shopping complexes and airport. Most major hotels charge a nominal fee for currency conversion. ATM machines are plentiful and located just about everywhere in Kuala Lumpur. 

Voltage is 220 – 240 Volt AC at 50 cycles per second, adaptable to standard 3-pin square plugs and socket.
