Oman Congress cancelled
January 2021 – World Congress in Muscat, Oman
We are very sorry to tell you that, in light of the ongoing global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the RCOG and the Oman Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology have made the difficult decision to cancel the RCOG World Congress, Oman, already postponed once this year from March 2020, which was rescheduled to take place on 28-30 January 2021. This unfortunately means that we need to cancel the Fellowship ceremony which we had planned to host in Oman in January 2021 where members were due to be elevated to Fellowship of the RCOG.
High levels of uncertainty remain and an assessment of continuing as planned identifies a number of significant risks. Ongoing travel restrictions and advice from the World Health Organization not to hold mass gatherings, means that it is highly unlikely the event would have been allowed to go ahead. We had been very much looking forward to welcoming delegates to Oman in January and were committed to doing everything we could to make the event a success so we are very disappointed that we are forced to cancel.
It is most unfortunate the pandemic, which is affecting us all in many ways and is totally outside our control, has had such an impact on our Congress, which so many people have worked so hard to organise.
