Guidance for commissioners

This section of the site brings together resources and information to support commissioners and health service managers with responsibility for commissioning high-quality women’s health care.

Commissioning advice: standards in women’s health care

The commissioning women’s health services resource brings together all standards for hospital-based obstetric and gynaecological care and community-based sexual and reproductive health care produced by the RCOG, the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH), other medical royal colleges and professional societies. It provides advice and support to Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and NHS England.

The resource also includes standards derived from policy documents such as joint consensus statements and reports. It includes information from the RCOG reports High Quality Women’s Health Care and Tomorrow’s Specialist, which have set the path for the development of integrated women’s health care delivered through clinical networks.

The commissioning women’s health services resource is fully interactive and easy to navigate. Its user-friendly interface has been designed for commissioners who may not have in-depth clinical knowledge or expertise in women’s health.
