Herbert Erik Reiss Memorial Case History Prize

The Herbert Erik Reiss Memorial Case History Prize recognises excellence in the presentation of clinical case histories in obstetrics and gynaecology.

This award, which comprises two prizes, is intended to encourage early career doctors to demonstrate critical analysis, comprehensive literature appraisal, and insightful clinical reflection in the case submissions.

Named in Memory of Herbert Erik Reiss, this prize honours his legacy and contributions to the specialty. It aims to inspire excellence in clinical reasoning and academic inquiry among early career stage doctors.

Prize

The winning applicants will be awarded:

  • First prize: £400
  • Second prize: £200

Eligibility

This prize is open to doctors in Foundation Years 1 and 2 or Specialist Training Years 1 and 2 in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. 

Assessment criteria

Submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Case description
  • Literature review
  • Critical Discussion
  • Clinical relevance
  • Level of involvement
  • References
