International Women's Day 2024: Innovation and Action in Global Gynaecological Healthcare

To mark International Women's Day 2024, the RCOG hosted a hybrid event to showcase and celebrate the College’s work to tackle issues and drive improvements around the world in women’s healthcare

To give you the opportunity to catch up on what you might have missed or watch anything back, we have made recordings of each session available for six months.

Session one | Technology and innovation in gynaecological services in the UK

Our International Women's Day event began with a welcome and introduction from RCOG President Ranee Thakar, RCOG CEO Kate Lancaster and Jane Plumb MBE, RCOG Women's Voices Lead and Women's Network Chair.

This was followed by the first session, which explored the state of gynaecology services and training in the UK, as well as the value of technology and innovation and how these can drive improvements in women's healthcare.

Session two | Using digital technology to support women's pelvic health across an entire ICS care pathway

This panel Q&A session, kindly sponsored by getUbetter, explored the use of digital technology to support women's pelvic health. The discussion was chaired by Carey McClellan, with RCOG president Ranee Thakar and joined by Nicola Williams and Louise Coates.

Session three | Innovation in treatment of uterine fibroids

This session explored innovation in treatment of uterine fibroids using real-world case studies, kindly sponsored by Gynesonics.

Session four | Bridging gaps in women's health: The transformative power of femtech

This session explored how technology designed specifically for women can bridge gaps in women's healthcare, kindly sponsored by Flo Health.

Session five | Gynaecological healthcare in low- and middle-income countries

This session explored new RCOG research on the global burden of gyneacological disease, the work the College is doing to tackle this issue and the UK governments' approach and commitments on SRHR globally.

Session six | Celebrating the innovation driving women’s health improvement

This session celebrated innovations that are driving improvement in women's health, with presentations from innovators behind the Tydeman Tube, Bloom43, JanamApp, Hertility and MUTU.

Summary and closing remarks

This session summarised the day's discussions surrounding the state of gynaecology services and training in the UK, as well as the value of technology and innovation and how these can drive improvements in women's healthcare.
