With the right type of support, the majority of doctors will transition successfully back to work.
If you feel that you are struggling, or that you are not being supported enough, it is important to flag this up as early as possible with your Educational Supervisor to try and identify possible solutions.
When discussing your progress with your Supervisor, it can be useful to try and explore underlying causes for the difficulties experienced, such as personal reasons, ill-health or environmental factors (e.g. undermining, etc.) in order to develop appropriate action plans and goals.
If the difficulty persists, you or your Educational Supervisor may need to escalate to the Training Programme Director (TPD) or Head of school as well as being put in touch with a support group for additional help.
Further advice regarding support available to you is available from the RCOG at Support for doctors.
