It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of former RCOG Fellow John Calvert, aged 77.
A passionate doctor and devoted leader, John dedicated many years of service to both the RCOG and the NHS. He inspired colleagues through his generosity of spirit and steadfast guidance, leaving a lasting impact on all who worked with him.
During his time with the College, John held a number of important roles, including College Tutor (1983–1986), Examiner for the Diploma (1994–1997), Examiner for the Membership (1997–2000), member of the Hospital Recognition Committee (1995–2002 and 2002–2005), Elected Council Member (1999–2002 and 2002–2005), and member of the Professional Standards Committee (1999–2005).
John later became Medical Director of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University NHS Trust. After concluding his College work, he continued his public service through work with the Welsh Assembly.
John will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him and working alongside him.
