Professor Shehata, RCOG Senior and Global Health Vice President, receives the Essex Medical Society’s Outstanding Doctors Award.
The College would like to congratulate Professor Hassan Shehata, RCOG Senior and Global Health Vice President, on receiving the Essex Medical Society’s Outstanding Doctors Award in recognition of his distinguished service to obstetrics and gynaecology. Professor Arulkumaran, former RCOG President, presented the award to Professor Shehata at the House of Commons last week.
Professor Shehata leads delivery of the RCOG Global Health Strategy, including our Gynaecological Health Matters and Making Abortion Safe Programme with global partners, and the College’s work around eradicating Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting.
In addition to his College contributions, Professor Shehata has published over 100 peer-reviewed publications and is Clinical Lead for the South-West London Maternal Medicine Network, ensuring all women with pre-, ante- and post-natal complex medical conditions have equal accessibility and care.
His previous roles include three years as the Gulf ambassador and six years as the MENA regional representative on Council.
