RCOG statement on the situation in Ukraine

4 Mar 2022

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists has released this statement on the unfolding situation in Ukraine:

The events unfolding in Ukraine are incredibly distressing to watch. We, along with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AOMRC), stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and all healthcare workers continuing to provide medical assistance in such challenging circumstances.

We know in times of conflict, women and girls are always disproportionally affected. We are deeply concerned about the maternity care being provided to pregnant women and their babies at this time, as access to hospitals will be impacted.

Our thoughts are with all our members in the region as well as those with friends and family in Ukraine.

To support those in need of food, shelter and healthcare, you can give to the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
