Responsibilities of the MRCOG Feedback Lead include the review and development of Candidate Feedback, Examiner Feedback and Process improvements for the MRCOG Examinations – with a focus on the MRCOG Part 3 examination feedback and ongoing development of the MRCOG Part 1 and Part 2 feedback.
The Examinations and Assessment Committee provides oversight to the development and delivery of the RCOG’s examinations, and in support of the RCOG Five Year Strategy. The committee meets four times a year (three meetings in person, one remotely).
This appointment is for a three-year term beginning in August 2026 and will be appointed by interview.

Role description
MRCOG Feedback Lead
Examinations and Assessment Committee
Three years
The review and development of Candidate Feedback, Examiner Feedback and Process improvements for the MRCOG Examinations.
Candidate feedback:
- Lead on the review and production of standardised reports for comprehensive and constructive candidate feedback for the MRCOG Part 3 exam
- Liaise with key stakeholders including MRCOG Part 3 sub-committee Chair & members, trainee representatives and SEAC members as part of a review to establish levels of detail and areas to provide appropriate informative feedback to candidates
- Review and Development of MRCOG Part 1 and Part 2 candidate feedback
Examiner feedback:
- Lead on the review and production of standardised feedback reports to examiners following each examination diet
- Collaborate with the MRCOG Part 3 Chair and Vice Chair to ascertain appropriate areas to support ongoing examiner feedback
- Support the Examinations and Statistics Officer with the analysis and production of reports for centre specific feedback following each examination diet, highlighting overall examiner performance and highlighting areas for potential focus and support
Process improvements:
- Contribute to the continuous review, developments and implementation of strategies to improve the examination feedback process

The ability to attend all meetings of the Examination and Assessment Committee (four meetings per year), Examination Board meetings for each exam sitting relevant to the MRCOG Part 3 exams (two per year) and other meetings as required.
This role reflects the present requirements of the post. As duties and responsibilities change and develop the role description will be reviewed and be subject to amendment in consultation with the post holder.
The role description will be re-evaluated at the end of the term.
Person specification
- MRCOG/FRCOG
- Currently practising in the UK
- Registered with a licence to practise with GMC or Irish Medical Council, in good standing
- Included on the GMC Specialist register
- Substantive consultant or SAS doctor in Obstetrics &/or Gynaecology in UK NHS Practice for at least three years
- Member (or past member) of one of the Examination Sub-Committees
- Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and assessment
- Active or previous participation in the writing of relevant types of examination questions
- Evidence of Equality and Diversity training within the previous three years
- Demonstration of involvement in personal CPD
- Evidence of annual appraisal
- Attention to detail
- Flexibility

Committee Chair/Member/Course Convenors and Organisers
If within your committee role or work as course convenor or organiser you gain knowledge which enhances patient care or leadership and technical skills (including, for example, giving presentations, teaching sessions or mock examining) credits can be claimed as an ‘Experiential Learning Event’.
CPD users can now freely select and record the number of credits for all their CPD activities. For Experiential Learning Events, a Reflection is required to claim the selected credits. In addition, 1 or 2 credits can be claimed for an action following the learning (1 credit for a simple action, 2 credits for a complex action). To claim credits for an action, the individual needs to demonstrate how they have applied their learning to their practice, the service they provide and/or the potential impact of the learning.
For those who prefer to follow RCOG recommendations, the CPD Framework still provides a suggested number of credits that can be claimed for different CPD activities.
